welcome to Bedouin residents of Taibeh
The Bedouin residents of Taibeh were displaced from their home in the Negev following the peace agreement between Israel and Egypt in order that the Israeli government could build a military base, Navatim, to replace a base previously located in the Sinai. At that time, Israel appointed a directorate to compensate those who lost their land and help them adjust to their new circumstances; unfortunately this directorate has focused the majority of its efforts on displaced Jewish communities, largely ignoring the Bedouin population. Today, the Bedouin community in Taibeh remains disenfranchised and they are unrepresented in the Taibeh municipality, a situation which significantly constrains any efforts of the Bedouin community to improve the conditions of the neighborhood.
